El Sr. Johnstone comenzó su carrera en la OCDE en septiembre de 1999, ocupando el cargo de Jefe de la Unidad de Análisis de Política Empírica en la División de Integración de Medio Ambiente y Economía de la Dirección de Medio Ambiente, con la responsabilidad de proyectos tales como el análisis de vínculos entre el medio ambiente público política, organización industrial e innovación tecnológica.

Johnstone, ciudadano canadiense, tiene un doctorado en Economía de la Universidad de Cambridge (Reino Unido).

Nick Johnstone is Head of the Structural Policy Division of the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry. He provides leadership to the OECD’s work on new sources of growth, innovation, productivity and entrepreneurship, and the role of industry and industrial policies. He supports the Committee on Industry, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and its subsidiary bodies.
 
Mr. Johnstone began his career at the OECD in September 1999, taking up the position of Head of the Empirical Policy Analysis Unit in the Environment and Economy Integration Division of the Environment Directorate, with responsibility for projects such as the analysis of links between public environmental policy, industrial organisation and technological innovation.
 
He previously held positions as a Research Associate at the International Institute for Environment and Development, and as a Research Officer at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Cambridge.
Mr. Johnstone, a Canadian national, holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge (UK).
